Develop Daly is the blog, portfolio, and home of web designer, Search Engine Optimizer (SEO), and WordPress fanatic Patrick Daly.
I started Develop Daly in 2006 as a freelance web design company. You can see my entire résumé here.
About Me
I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2008 with a degree in Criminal Justice. I won’t find much use for it as I take on redesigning the web, but it was worth it. If anything, it was another interest of mine that has proven to be less appealing than web design and for the benefit of you and me I began pursuing that interest to its fullest.
Before college I graduated from The Woodlands High School and it was there that my interest was piqued. I was in a band that wasn’t going to make it to the big time without a website, right? The trend at the time was Flash websites, so I gave it shot and our band had a new website about every month because I kept learning how to make it better. Nearly ten years later I’m doing the same thing minus Flash.
Flash was great and I got my feet soaking wet in web design and began learning how beneficial pure HTML websites are for many reasons. Standards-based web design was calling my name and I’ve been on that path ever since, learning how to produce websites that adhere to HTML, CSS, and accessibility standards.
So this website serves a few purposes and is evolving all the time. This is actually the tenth version of developdaly.com (I told you I like to redesign!). Over time its been a blog, a portfolio, and a testing ground, both personal and professional. Now that I’ve had plenty of time to nurture it, developdaly.com has become a combination of them all. This is where I promote myself, my services, blog about the industry, share my work, and sometimes tell. Its my hub. Of all the social networks for which I’ve set up an account at, this will always be my default. Everything points here. Hey, why don’t you link your site here? ;)
My Zeal for WordPress
My transition from Flash to HTML led me to dynamic websites (PHP) and eventually content management systems (CMS). WordPress has become my de facto CMS because of its flexibility, support, and usability. I’ve been creating GPL and unreleased WordPress themes for years now.
