More Develop Daly WordPress, Web Design, & SEO Resources

As part of my contribution to Lead Maverick, I keep a blog over there on web design related things. I have to decide to where my content is best suited – often times it is for both places.

My Lead Maverick blog consists of some rich content that you’d probably be interested in so I encourage you to check it out. Here are some summaries of a few of my articles.

The blogosphere has been booming lately with discussion of data portability. It’s a topic that really excites me, because I see the possibilities of the Internet and am discouraged by the lack of embracement.

Semantic markup is another one of those areas that could be utilized to a much greater potential and I’m excited that it is finally getting its due credit. The possibilities of sorting through semantic content is endless and can only improve search engines and in turn improve content visibility. Filtering through tons of crap to find what you want is a pain; hopefully through Microformats, XFN, and more we can achieve a level of content organization that extends a huge helping hand to searchers.

Matt Cutts made a video a while back sifting through some SEO Myths, view it through this post.

If any of these seem interesting to you, read both blogs and subscribe to my Lead Maverick RSS Feed.

Web Design in Denton, TX

I live in Denton, TX (Corinth, TX to be exact, but who knows where that is?!). Denton is just 45 minutes north of Dallas and Fort Worth. Things in Denton have historically been quiet, rural, or at most, minimally suburban to the bigger 2 triangle counterparts, D and FW.

Before I get to the web designing…Things are changing here. Denton is rounding out this triangle (Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton) quite nicely, or perhaps some think the rounding out is less awesome. I like the coming changes, however. Denton is becoming less of a leech to the other cities and gathering quite a crowd to place into its many newly built and yet to be built homes. The largest shopping attraction is being built as I write and is certain to bring tourism to Denton. Several corporations are moving into town, bringing more jobs, more opportunities, and more options.

For me, I’m excited about the chance that more web design work may be available here. Dallas has a great reputation for advertising, marketing, and creative services like web design. I’d rather not move to Dallas for work though. In the coming years, I’ll probably be able to stay right here and offer the traditional Dallas services right here from Denton.

Of course, I work on the Internet, a world-wide platform, but I like working with people in my community. It’s also easier and more efficient to meet with people sometimes. I always hope that my work is solving a problem, making something more efficient, or serving people in some such manner. Being able to watch that up close is more special to me, so I’ll try to keep it that way.

I may be pretty busy right now, but I’ll have more time soon to take on additional projects, and hope to serve Denton, TX more directly. Email me if you’re looking for a new web site.

We Are Microsoft

I’m setting up with my team right now at the We Are Microsoft Charity Coding event. Basically, a bunch of volunteers are here building websites and applications for non-profits in the course of one weekend. At the end, we’ll be judged and winners will be chosen. Better yet, 15 non-profits will have greatly benefited from the efforts of so many volunteers.

My particular organization is North Dallas Shared Ministries. We’re redeveloping an intranet application that powers their medical record keeping. I’m excited to get rolling!

Lead Maverick – SEO Mothership

As we get (re)started here on Develop Daly I’d like to begin by letting you know a little bit about what I do.

What I Do: Front-end web design/development for Lead Maverick

What Lead Maverick Does: Search Engine Optimization for small to mid-size businesses without changing their websites

As a plug, yet an non-sponsored advertisement, let me tell you what Lead Maverick can do for you.

In April the company was incorporated and the product released in summer 2007. The product being a directory that aggregates, optimizes, localizes, and organizes your content to make it more search-engine friendly. Basically customers use our tool to put content into our application and we spit that content back out into a directory where it all the magic takes place. Its really amazing how well it works too. We see results in less than 24 hours sometimes. Results being: search terms finding our content in number 1 rankings or at least top ten.

Right now my job is to redesign everything. Starting with the primary domain – you know, the home page and main company information and such – the marketing stuff. Very very soon we’ll be launching this and all that we do will make much more sense than the current website does. Following that the focuses of everyone will be on re-working the directory and the application. I’m really excited about this because its where we get to be innovative and bar-setting.

In addition to this, I’ve picked up lots of great SEO goodies. I’ll be sprinkling them about my blog every once in a while. Thanks for your subscription!
